| This study, carried out from 1995 to 1997, within the framework of "Le Havre" harbour extension project, concerned halieutic populations and the characterization of a coastal nursery in the oriental part of the Seine bay and the Seine estuary . The main objective was to describe the specific and demographic composition of marine populations and their spatio-temporal distribution, and so assess the biological and halieutic role of this area. This study also included a research about the dietary needs of fish juveniles living in the estuary. | A la fin du printemps 1978, le littoral normand a été le siège de profilérations inhabituelles d'algues microscopiques qui donnaient une coloration anormale à l'eau de mer sur plusieurs dizaines de kilomètres. Ce phénomène, largement commenté par les moyens d'information, a eu un impact régional important du fait des risques encourus par les consommateurs d'animaux marins à l'approche de la période estivale et du manque à gagner des professionnels de la mer. Venant quelques mois après la catastrophe de l'"Amoco-Cadiz" cette "marée rouge" a sensibilisé, une fois de plus, l'opinion publique aux problèmes de la pollution des mers.
